Stay Up Late with Heavy Load
Nice one. I’ve just heard about this band called Heavy Load who have a track called ‘Stay Up Late’ coming out very soon. It turns out that the band are supporting a campaign about how many people with learning difficulties are never allowed to stay out late at all. Being dependant on their care workers, they often have to cut short their night by 9pm so they can be returned. So Heavy Load are a punk rock band who are raising awareness about the issue.
Got me thinking – it’s such a basic human need that we take for granted. We all know that gigs never really kick off until 9pm-9.30pm at the very earliest. What would you feel like if you had to go home at that time? And, remember, these are adults that we are talking about. Makes you kind of wonder why you never really meet people with learning difficulties in the evening anyway…
Anyway, check out the Heavy Load band here and read more about the Stay Up Late campaign here.
Oh, and I also spotted this photo on their website, obviously a promoter has left it to warn bands about to play. Had me in stiches…
